Safety Rules & Guidelines

Your safety is our priority. All climbers must understand and follow these essential safety rules to ensure a secure and enjoyable climbing experience.

Important Safety Warning

WARNING: Climbing is an inherently dangerous activity. Safety briefings are conducted to demonstrate correct use of the safety systems within the facility and minimise risks. Injuries may still occur despite precautions. Participants acknowledge that they understand and voluntarily accept the risks involved in entry and use of the facility.

Proper equipment, supervision, and following established procedures are crucial for a safe climbing experience. Always prioritize safety over everything else.

Teamwork & Supervision

Climbing is a team activity. Always use the buddy system, conduct proper checks, and ensure adequate supervision, especially for young climbers.

  • Anyone entering the facility must sign a release of liability form, register & check-in before entry.
  • Children under 13 must be actively supervised at all times by a responsible adult (Above 18) who has registered and checked-in, each adult may supervise up to 2 child climbers.
  • All first time participants must undergo a safety briefing conducted by Climb Central staff.
  • Only Climb Central staff may conduct climbing instruction and/or safety instruction in the facility.
  • No food & drink except bottled plain water in the climbing areas.
  • No footwear except climbing shoes in the climbing areas.
  • No barefoot and/or topless climbing, rental shoes must be worn with socks.
  • No loose chalk. Use a chalk ball or liquid chalk.
  • Never climb, sit, lie down, stand or walk in the fall zone of another climber.
  • Remove all sharp personal objects such as earnings, necklaces before climbing. Do not bring loose objects such as hand phones and cameras up the climbing walls.
  • Always do a buddy check, be attentive and follow proper procedures while belaying. Do not sit, lie down or let go of the braking rope while belaying.
  • Be respectful of staff and other users that you are sharing the facility with. Refrain from profanities, horseplay, and other improper conduct.
  • Programmes and maintenance works have priority to areas. Staff may close off selected sections for such use.
  • Do not lane hog. Avoid hanging on the rope when it is crowded and unclip yourself after you are done with climb.
  • No smoking or naked flames in the facility.
  • Alcohol and other intoxicating substances are not allowed in the facility. Participants under influence of such substance may be refused entry.
  • Use only UIAA or CE certified harnesses, carabiners, ropes and belay devices. Use equipment in accordance with manufacturer's recommendations.
  • Do not abuse or cause damage to the facility, equipment or climbing walls.
  • Photographs, recordings, data or images of the facility should not be used for commercial gain, public advertisement or public display without the written consent of Climb Central.
  • Climb Central is not responsible for lost or stolen articles, be mindful of your personal belongings.
  • Climbing holds may become loose, spin or break, loose/damaged holds, or other accidents, injuries, unsafe conditions, damage, or inappropriate behaviour by other climbers should be reported immediately to staff.
  • Additional facility rules and reminders are posted throughout the facility. This list is not exhaustive and Climb Central reserves the right to refuse entry (temporarily or permanently) for unsafe or inappropriate behaviour.
  • All users must pass a verification test and receive the respective verification tag for top-rope belaying (using their own assisted-braking belay devices), lead climbing or lead belaying, verification tags must be displayed at all times.
  • Climbers must be at least 13 years old to take the verification test and may not top rope belay, lead climb or lead belay unless during a Climb Central programme, or subject to Climb Central approval.
  • Only figure-eight follow through knots are allowed for tie-in. No bowline knots.
  • Only assisted braking belay devices are allowed for lead belaying. If you are not familiar with the use of assisted braking belay devices, please check appropriate instructions.
  • The lead walls are for lead climbing only. Top roping on the lead walls or using the lead walls for other purposes are not permitted unless during a Climb Central Programme.
  • Belayers should ensure controlled descent of climbers. Climbers should not intentionally kick off or jump off or perform dangerous acts on climbing walls.
  • Lead climbing is only permitted on walls with fixed quickdraws. Climbers are required to clip all clips and may not place their own quickdraws on the wall, unless during a Climb Central programme.
  • Free solo (unprotected) climbing is not permitted under any circumstances.

Safety Briefing Required

All first-time climbers must complete a mandatory safety briefing before climbing. This ensures everyone understands proper safety procedures.

Child Supervision

Children under 13 must be actively supervised by a registered adult. Maximum 2 children per adult supervisor for maximum safety.

Buddy Check System

Always conduct a thorough buddy check before climbing. Both climber and belayer must verify all equipment and knots are correct.

Climbing shoes only. No street shoes or barefoot climbing allowed.

Use only UIAA or CE certified gear in good condition.

Be mindful of other climbers and staff. Maintain a safe climbing environment.

Report any safety concerns, damaged equipment, or loose holds immediately.
